Where to get Beignets in Austin, TX

I absolutely LOVE beignets! Ever since my first taste as a child living in New Orleans, Lousisiana, I have been hooked. After moving and then growing up in a different state, I still had access to beignets fairly regularly due to a very conveniently located cafe near my house. Once I started college though, my hometown beignet shop closed down and I was left searching for for a new place. Luckily, Austin is popping with different types of food, and after a quick search through GoogleMaps, checking out the beignet images, I found a great place!  Epicerie is my favorite beignet place in Austin to date. During my search, I found food trucks and places where I could get flavored beignets, but epicerie is where I found the best classic beignets that I know and love - hot, airy, and coated in lots of powdered sugar! The appearance of the shake itself looked just like the usual chocol...

Although I prefer McDonald's to BurgerKing, I do have a strong allegiance to the chain, so I felt it was my duty to give their new animal-friendly, sustainable product a fair review... and I was quite glad I did actually. TL;DR~ It was good.

The Paleta Bar - Sweet, Salty, & Spicy

-

It has been almost a year since my last post ! As a result, I am pressing pause on my longtime projects and posting a quick review of an impulse purchase I made in the meantime. I recently visited The Paleta Bar in Midland, TX to treat myself to an indulgent snack, and boy, I was not disappointed. I came in with a photo from my friend depicting a red and white smudged plastic cup with a mysteriously coated straw sticking out of it. I didn't know what it was, but I could assume it would have the delicious combination of salty, spicy, and sweet that I appreciate from good Mexican candy. I showed the photo to the man behind the counter and he immediately knew what it was and shared what was in the cup. I ordered the paleta mangonada which I believe is the drink version of the paleta con frutas, tajin, y chamoy. This, as you may have figured out already, is a paleta bar dipped in tajin and chamoy and covered in fruit. There was also a mangonada fruit juice added to the cup to produce...
